You could feel the excitement in the air! Scores of little people ready to spend a week together with people from all over – some from South Carolina, some from Waco, TX, North Carolina, and others right here from New Providence. On June 18, Covenant Life kicked off its 5-week Summer Reading Enrichment ministry. Children in Grades 1 to 6 can enhance their reading and comprehension skills, learn chess, play sports while learning the importance of teamwork, and most importantly, hear the Gospel in very creative ways.
A team of brothers and sisters from Sumter, SC leads the way in collaborating with CLPC for our annual ministry to the students and parents connected with schools in the Yellow Elder Gardens community. CLPC will host teams from Virginia, Alabama, and Tennessee – people who want to help us extend the Transforming Presence of God’s Kingdom in the minds and hearts of all with whom CLPC has been serving.
Thanks to the great planning of Christiana, John & Karen Stodghill, and a young Bahamian lead volunteer – Miss Aymara Albury, the groups have been divided into 3 grade levels: Grades 1 & 2; Grades 3 & 4; Grades 5 & 6. Each group begins each day at a station, and those stations are Reading, VBS, and Sports and Recreation. At the end of the day, our volunteers from CLPC feed the youngsters with lunch prepared right at the site. We also been able to have two young men from our ministry focus area helping us this Summer – Kyle and Kaleb.
This first week, we witnessed a beautiful display of teamwork, dedicated and tireless service, coupled with a willingness to learn. And all of this occurred under the watchful eyes of the staff of the NSA, and the care of numerous members and friends of CLPC. What a beautiful display of how the Gospel reaches all people, everywhere!
To God be the Glory!
